Dear friends, thank you for playing on Captain’s Day. I hope you have a fun and enjoyable round of golf. It has been a huge honour being your Captain this year, please read below details about today’s format. It’s great to know that over 200 are playing today

Competition

Fun Texas Scramble Playing of different tees

Red Tee Holes 2, 6, 9, 13, 15 and 18

White Tee Holes 1, 4, 5, 8, 11 (played from 6th tee) and 17

Blue Tee Holes 3, 7, 10, 12 14 (past the pond) and 16

Handicaps calculated on the card for all teams.

Every team member tees off on each hole.  Best shot is selected, and second shots will be placed (on fairway) or dropped (in rough) within six inches of selected ball. Whichever drive or second and subsequent shots are chosen that player goes first. Second and subsequent shots are played by all players until the ball is in the hole.  Drop within 6 inches if selecting ball which comes to rest in bunker. NO GIMMES ON PUTTING GREEN!

EACH PLAYER MUST TAKE THREE DRIVES – ONE MUST BE A PAR 3

Registration – Please collect your card from the clubhouse.

Refreshments – Complimentary beer, cider and soft drinks are available in the Tolchards Van along with complimentary sausage rolls served by our very own Geoff Smith.

Prize Table - Top 7 placed teams will be in the prizes, along with the winner of the nearest the pin in the lab, and the putting competition.

Spot Prizes – Nearest the Pin on all Par 3’s plus Longest Drive on 13th

Bonus Ball – Our popular Bonus Ball Draw is offering balls at £3 each and you can buy as many as you like. 

Membership Raffle – Our Membership Raffle is available for the first 100 people. £20 per ticket the prize is a full membership at Torquay Golf Club 2026/2027. The membership does not include affiliation fees or any extras such as locker fees.

Putting Competition – £5 for 3 attempts. If there are multiple winners then there will be a sudden death play off

Nearest the Pin – In the lab James Urquhart will set you up that you can play the 7th hole at Pebble Beach. £3 a go or £5 for 3 attempts, nearest to the hole wins! This will be available from 9am-3pm.

Cards – Please hand your card into the shop where they will enter the score for you.   

Catering – A buffet breakfast will be available from 9am – 12 noon. Sausage rolls will be offered when you reach the Tolchards Van. The evening menu will be available from 3pm.  

Evening Entertainment – Jon Glanvill will be on the decks outside weather permitting from 6pm
